"Survivor" will take a break from anonymous island settings when it moves to China next fall.
Confirming a story first reported in several online venues, Variety is saying that "Survivor 15" will take place somewhere mysterious in mainland China.
This will be the first "Survivor" outside of an island environment since "Survivor: Amazon," the show's sixth installment. The trade paper says that filming an entire season of an American network TV show will be precedent-setting for China and part of the ongoing loosening of government restrictions on U.S. entertainment projects in the country.
The finale of "Survivor: Fiji," the show's latest installment, will take place in New York City on Sunday, May 13.
