Rostam Comic Book

In 2000, childhood friends, Bruce Bahmani, Jamie Douraghy, and Cameron Douraghy; while working on the “Truth” anti-smoking campaign created a customized comic book targeting Asian American teenagers who smoke.

The project proved to be very successful with more than a million issues being printed and distributed. Their collective experience on this project inspired them to express the action adventure stories they had grown up with from the Shahnameh, in this Rostam Comic Book.

"Rostam tales from the Shahnameh" is the latest project. Adapted from the rich verse of Ferdowsi the famous Persian poet, the epic tales of valor, bravery, and devotion are for the first time adapted to the American comic genre. Rostam is the hero-champion of a mythical land of Persia. Dedicated to protecting her throne from all invaders and usurpers, Rostam faces outer threats as well as his own inner demons, a glimpse of our own humanity.

In the first installment in what hoped will be a long lasting series, Rostam must face the newest threat to the throne of Persia, the mighty and younger Sohrab. Hand drawn and meticulously inked, this book has been in development for over 5 years. Every detail, including weaponry, architecture, and clothing was inspired by original Persian culture and created especially to compliment the rich storyline.
